Kelly Lave - Executive Producer

I have been a fan of Filmmaking for a long time. It started when i was working in Fiji
and met Beverly D'Angelo, Clint Eastwood's wife at the time. She was in Fiji to shoot
a documentary on the island at the Sheraton Vomo Island Resort.
The team was working on the programme 'Lifestyles of The Rich & Famous'.
Then, looking at the camera and other equipment that they had plus showing us
playback from the shoot on the island on small monitor fascinated me. That sparked
an interest in film which continues to this day.

I came to switzerland in April 1996, met and married my wife, Beatrice who shared the role of Executive Producer with me. We decided to form a Television Company & Radio Station in Ghana after I had taken a course in England with the BBC. The school was in the London suburb of Brixton. There I studied Lighting, Camera operating and its function, shooting ( Filming ), Sound Recording and linear Editing. When we were unable to continue with the project in Ghana, we decided to wait and see what will come our way.

We watched the film 'Twinkle Of An Eye' shot by Edward Apau in Zürich. After we were
introduced to Edward, we became close friends with him and his family. He spoke to us about his dreams wishes and what he would like to do to get him on his feet running.
We then registered a company under the name KEMF (Kelly Edward Music & Film
Production). As a result of this my wife and I decided to support Edward financially for the film and made an agreement to become his Executive Producers.

Knowing the difficulties for those in the film business, we just support him as much as we can to the present day. I personally felt extremely great as an Exec. Producer for Monark and I believe that this film will travel well as a result of its uniqueness. The actors & actresses were very special in a way you really know and I feel that this film was done with great love for different cultures, nationalities and backgrounds.

I acted as sound-man for most of the shoot, plus a little help here and there as Driver / Stills Photographer when needed. I enjoyed every moment of it and i wouldn't refuse if I was asked to do it again when time permits. I would do this over and over again.

Mervyn Onwuemezia - Location Sound Engineer

Mervyn Onwuemezia holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Benin. With a keen interest in stage acting, he performed in two school plays in his youth. Over time, he developed an interest in backstage work, but never had the chance to lay hands on any of the equipment.
Mervyn took up the challenge when asked to be part of the crew for the making of Monark.  Having received an informal training in Sound Engineering, he was
very supportive as one of the crew men where he worked as the location sound Engineer.

Ursula Birri - Script Translator (Police Clerk)

Ursula Birri is Swiss and was born in Zurich. She studied German, Modern Greek and Comparative Literature at universities in Germany, Greece and Switzerland, wrote her PhD thesis about theatre and worked as a teacher and a translator.

Then, she took part in the performance and the film of “Die Stadt der Blinden” after José Saramago’s novel, directed by Marcelo Diaz (as “singer at the bus stop” and in other parts) at the Theater an der Sihl in Zurich.
In “Monark” she was playing the Police Clerk, and she has translated the scenario from English into German and into French.
